The church village Alfalter is a district of the municipality Vorra in the district of Nürnberger Land in Middle Franconia (Free State of Bavaria ).

Alfalter is located in the Hersbrucker Alb . Geologically, the Hersbrucker Alb belongs to the Northern Franconian Alb . In the characteristic Jura landscape of the place, the geological layers of the White Jura (Malm) form the highest peaks. In the west, in addition to the Hartmannshof formation, the Frankenalb formation and the Treuchtlingen formation of the White Jura occur. Layers of the Brown Jurassic (Dogger) emerge under the Malm. The Pegnitz valley widens in Alfalter and the Quaternary valley fillings shape the wide valley landscape.

The place name is derived from the noble family of the Lords of Affaltern.

Church of St. Catherine

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Katharina is located in the center of Alfalter. In 1449 the church was built as a chapel for St. Catherine . The massive choir tower dates from the middle of the 15th century and has a pyramid roof from 1616. The nave was rebuilt in 1701–1702 and stuccoed in 1761–1762. The church is framed by a limestone churchyard wall.

Incorporations

Alfalter acquired the imperial city of Nuremberg in 1504. On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Alfalter was incorporated into Vorra.
