Alfred Schier
Alfred Schier (born August 6, 1955 in Stuttgart ) is a German journalist.
Schier studied history and German at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen and the University of Zurich . After graduating, he worked for the television program of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk as a presenter , reporter and broadcast editor .
From 1978 to 1993 he worked as a freelancer in various areas of television, from children's programs to national magazines and politics . He was the planner and head of ARD's service at the Olympic Games, for the first time at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984 , and for the last time at the Games in Atlanta in 1996 , and also at the World and European Football Championships . From 1993 to 1995 Schier was also an editor with special tasks in the field of sports. From 1995 to 1997 he was editor-in-chief of external broadcasts in the sports division of the SDR. Since March 1997 he has been editor-in-chief Event I at the news and documentary broadcaster Phoenix .
Until November 2015, Schier hosted the weekly program Im Dialog with interview partners from journalism, politics , business or science , alternating with Michael Krons at Phoenix , before he was replaced in this role by Michael Hirz . Since January 2016, Schier has been moderating the weekly primetime discussion round Unter den Linden and the phoenix round format, which is broadcast three times a week , alternately with colleagues.
