Alfred Sous
Alfred Sous (born November 24, 1925 in Rheydt ; † April 6, 2011 in Munich ) was a German oboist , university professor and author .
Life
At the age of 14 he began his musical training at the Army Music School in Bückeburg . In 1942 he was drafted. After his training as a soldier , he came to the Eastern Front and in 1943 was taken prisoner by the Soviets .
After seven years as a prisoner of war, where he was the “ director ” of a camp theater group, he finished his music studies with Winschermann. His first engagement was in Darmstadt . Then, in 1952, he went to Frankfurt as a solo oboist for the Radio Symphony Orchestra of the Hessischer Rundfunk . He was also a member of the Cappella Coloniensis and the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra .
Sous was a professor at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts for the subject oboe .
He has published works on the history of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra . He became known, among other things, with his thriller "Tosca" and the satire "Broderich composes black holes".
Sous married the organist and harpsichordist Margarete Grafe in 1953. The marriage produced a daughter. After his retirement, Sous lived in southern Spain for 12 years before returning to Germany and spending the last years of his life in Weilheim and Munich .
