Alfred Zistler

Alfred Zistler (born October 31, 1929 in Girm , Deutschkreutz parish ; † November 23, 2009 in Eisenstadt ) was a Catholic priest .

Life

Alfred Zistler received the sacrament of ordination on June 29, 1954 in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna by Cardinal Theodor Innitzer . From the then Apostolic Administration Burgenland Zistler was initially employed as a chaplain in Pinkafeld from 1954 to 1956 and in Lockenhaus from 1956 to 1958 , after which he was in charge of the parishes of Lockenhaus and Bad Sauerbrunn as pastor . On September 1, 1972, Zistler was appointed pastor of Eisenstadt's cathedral and city, and he held this pastoral role in St. Martin's Cathedral until he was retired in November 1998. From 1972 to 2005 Zistler was canon of the Eisenstadt cathedral chapter of St. Martin and from 1998 to 2004 cathedral curator .

Zistler completed a degree in theology and graduated with a master's degree in 1970; in the same year he was appointed to the Episcopal Spiritual Council , in 1986 to the Papal Honorary Chaplain and in 1993 by Pope John Paul II to the Papal Honorary Prelate .

In March 2009 the Caritas social center "Haus Lisa" was opened in Deutschkreutz in Burgenland . Alfred Zistler provided the land for the construction of the social center free of charge.

The mayoress of Eisenstadt, Andrea Fraunschiel, paid tribute to him in her obituary: “ Prelate Zistler gained a high reputation for himself during the many years of his activity as the town pastor of Eisenstadt [...]. As a link between the political community and the parish, he campaigned on many issues for the benefit of the citizens of our city. [...]. "
