Ali Mohamed Younes Idriss (born September 15, 1989 ) is a Sudanese high jumper and national record holder.

Athletic career

Ali Mohd Younes Idriss gained his first international experience in 2005 at the Junior African Championships in Radès , where he finished fourth with a jump of 2.06 m. He then took part in the Pan-Arab Championships there and finished seventh with 2.05 m. The following year he reached fifth place at the Pan-Arab Junior Championships in Cairo with 2.00 m and in 2007 he was fourth again at the Junior African Championships in Ouagadougou with 2.01 m, before he was fourth at the Pan-Arab Games in Cairo with 2.05 m ended up in tenth place. In 2010 he took part in the African Championships in Nairobi for the first time and immediately won the bronze medal behind the Botswanian Kabelo Kgosiemang and Raoul Matongno from Cameroon with a height of 2.15 m . The following year he won the Africa Games in Maputo with a skipped 2.25 m, before he won the bronze medal at the Arab Championships in al-Ain with 2.13 m behind the Katari Mutaz Essa Barshim and Majd Eddin Ghazal from Syria. He then won the silver medal behind Barshim at the Pan-Arab Games in Doha with 2.24 m. In 2012 he won the silver medal behind the Botswanian Kgosiemang at the African Championships in Porto-Novo with 2.15 m and in 2013 he won the silver medal behind Barshim at the Arab Championships in Doha with a height of 2.24 m before he won the World Championships retired in Moscow with 2.17 m in the qualification.

In 2014 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , but also missed the finals there with 2.21 m. He then won the bronze medal behind Kgosiemang and Fernand Djoumessi from Cameroon at the African Championships in Marrakech with 2.22 m skipped . The following year he secured the silver medal behind the Katari Barshim at the Arab Championships in Madinat Isa with 2.16 m and then retired from the qualification at the World Championships in Beijing with 2.17 m . He then won the silver medal behind the Botswanian Kgosiemang at the Africa Games in Brazzaville with a height of 2.22 m. In the following years, Younes Idriss barely competed before he finished ninth with 2.00 m at the 2018 African Championships in Asaba . The following year he took part again in the Africa Games in Rabat and was eighth there with a jump of 2.00 m.
