Alison Wonderland (* 27. September 1986 in Sydney , Australia as Alex Sholler ) is a DJ , producer and singer who at EMI Music Australia is under contract.
Career
At first she was active in classical music and trained as a cellist until she devoted herself to hip-hop , trap and future bass music. In 2014 she started a national tour playing in department stores.
2013–2014: Breakthrough with Get Ready & I Want U
After signing with "EMI Music Australia", Alison Wonderland gained first attention after releasing her debut single Get Ready on January 1, 2013, which she recorded with the Australian duo Fishing. A year later, on June 27, 2014, their debut EP Calm Down was released . The singles I Want U and Cold were released in advance . With I Want U she was able to rank for the first time in the Australian singles charts, where she reached number 38.
2015: Debut album Run
On February 11, 2015, Wonderland released the lead single from their debut album entitled U Don't Know . In addition to her, Wayne Coyne, the front man of the Flaming Lips , appears. The music video also gained popularity thanks to the participation of Christopher Mintz-Plasse at her side. The song was able to place itself at number 63 on the singles charts. The track reached several million views on Spotify alone.
Wonderlands debut album Run was released on March 20, 2015.
After celebrating several promotions in a number of strip clubs, their debut album Run was released on March 20, 2015 in Australia and on April 7, 2015 in the United States. Guest musicians included Slumberjack, SAFIA and Djemba Djemba. The two singles from their EP, which was released the previous year, I Want U and Cold also found space on the album. It reached number 6 in Australia and number 12 in New Zealand. The title track was then released as a single on June 11, 2015 and also reached several million streams on Spotify.
On August 4, 2015, Take It to Reality was released as the third single from the album in collaboration with SAFIA. The track did not reach the singles charts. The music video was released on the same day. After the release of Take It to Reality on September 4th 2015, their album Run was finally released in the UK as well. The fourth single Games was released on September 9, 2015. However, the track has been criticized for its lack of trap elements. The music video was released the same day and consists of a one-taker depicting Wonderland completing various sports such as football, martial arts, and chess. A deluxe edition of Run was released on October 30, 2015. This presents remixes of the individual songs.
Later in 2015, Alison Wonderland won two ARIA Awards in the categories "Best Dance Release" for the single Run and "Best Video" for U Don't Know with Wayne Coyne. On January 26, 2016, Australia Day 2016, the song Run was listed at number 59 of the "Triple J's Hottest 100" of 2016.
Since 2016: Messiah
On February 6, 2016, Wonderland premiered a new production called Messiah in a live performance, which was more pop-heavy compared to their previous songs. Later that year, the song was released as a single in collaboration with Australian hip-hop producer M-Phazes.
On May 5, 2017, she released a cover version of Ed Sheeran's global hit Shape of You . She produced this together with the Australian DJane Naderi. The future bass version of the song was released as a free download.
