Alissa Pierce (born June 30, 1986 ) is an American - Luxembourgish basketball player .

Childhood and family

The build-up and winger grew up in Littleton (Colorado) and has been playing basketball intensively since she was six. In the first few years she was trained by her father. She later played at Stanford University in California , where she also studied biology .

Professional career

In 2008 Pierce, whose height is differently indicated at 1.80 m and 1.82 m, started her professional career with the Hessian second division Rhein-Main Baskets , the Bundesliga department of the clubs TV Langen and TV Hofheim . With this the immediate promotion to the 1st women's basketball league succeeded .

In December 2010/2011, coach Peter Kortmann from the SV Halle Lions tried to lure Pierce to Halle in the current season . Although her departure had already been announced, she ultimately stayed with the Rhein-Main-Baskets until the end of the season, as Halle did not want to pay a transfer fee. Despite the quarrels, she was top scorer in the first division. After the end of the season, coach Peter Kortmann - now under contract with the first division promoted GiroLive Panthers Osnabrück - made a second attempt to sign Alissa Pierce. This attempt also failed because no job could be found for the protagonist. Instead, Pierce moved to the Halle Lions in August 2011, where she was only able to stay for 2 months. In October 2011 the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung announced the termination of the contract between the Halle Lions and Alissa Pierce with the words: "The contract with director Alissa Pierce, who had duped the club with a chronic injury and had to undergo an operation, will be terminated."

At the end of 2011, she introduced herself to the Royals in Saarlouis . But there she did not get a contract because her doctor had not yet given her a license to play. Two months later she came to BC Marburg , who signed her at the end of January 2012, shortly before the end of the transition period, for Maggie Skuballa , who had failed due to a serious injury . A short time later, Pierce injured his shoulder and was out for the rest of the season.

Since her contract in Marburg was not extended, Pierce moved to Luxembourg for the 2012/2013 season and from there to the second division Keltern , where her then partner Lisa Koop also played. In January 2014 she asked Keltern for her approval, received it and moved to Oberhausen , where she had to leave again in February 2014.

For the 2014/2015 season, Alissa Pierce and her then partner Lisa Koop moved to BC Marburg, but did not receive a new contract there for the 2015/2016 season. After a break due to injury, Pierce has been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga with BG 74 Göttingen since the 2016/17 season . In her first season she was promoted to the first division with the team.

Pierce, who has ancestors from Luxembourg , has been a citizen of the Grand Duchy in addition to her US citizenship since May 2017 . A first planned assignment for the country's national team as part of the games of the small states of Europe at the end of May and beginning of June 2017 in San Marino could not take place due to knee problems.
