Shambalova started at the beginning of the 2010/11 season for the first time in Vershina Tjoi in the Eastern Europe Cup and finished 20th in the sprint. At the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck , she came 17th in the sprint and fifth place over 5 km classic. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season she achieved her first podium finish in the Eastern Europe Cup with second place in the sprint in Werschina Tjoi. In January 2013 she won the bronze medal in the skiathlon and the silver medal in the relay at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Liberec . The following month she made her debut in Sochi in the World Cup and finished 49th in the sprint. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Shambalova came back on the podium in the Eastern Europe Cup in Vershina Tjoi with third place over 10 km. In the 2018/19 season, Shambalova took second place in the overall standings with four wins in the Eastern Europe Cup.
