history

A church in the village was first mentioned in a document in 1084. The Gothic church building made of tuff stone was built from 1456 to 1458. The Lady Chapel and sacristy were added in the early 16th century.

architecture

The nave , four-bay and web rip vaulted nave has drawn semi buttresses. The slightly drawn-in two-bay and ribbed vaulted choir has a five-eighth end . The three-axis west gallery has keel arches and a ribbed vault. The two-bay, star-rib vaulted southern Marienkapelle with late Gothic windows with round arches and the Gothic sacristy were added at the beginning of the 16th century. The tower in the southern choir corner has been converted into an octagon at the top and has a pointed helmet . The late Gothic round arched south portal has a star rib vaulted vestibule. The crossed shoulder-arched vestry portal has doors with rich Gothic fittings.

Furnishing

The remarkable high altar was created by Thomas Schwanthaler in 1686, the altarpiece probably by Jakob Vogl. The high altar was restored in 1924. The side altars from 1690 were transferred here in 1787 from the Reichersberg parish church, which was profaned that year , and the Reichersberg parish church was demolished in 1820.

organ

The organ was purchased in 1712 for the Reichersberg parish church, which was demolished in 1820, and was built by court organ maker Johann Christoph Egedacher from Salzburg. Egedacher signed the instrument on the inside of the attachment board, below the middle area of the prospectus. The parish church of Reichersberg was profaned in the course of the reforms of Emperor Joseph II . On March 24, 1787, the district office approved the transfer of various furnishings from the dissolved church to the Münsteuer parish church, including the Egedacher organ. A repair of the organ is documented for 1862 and concerned the pedal coupler. In 1954 the instrument was restored by Johann Pirchner , who installed a new 4 'flute, which was renewed on the occasion of a further restoration by Romano H. Zölss ( Frankenau , AUT ) in 1990/91. In 2001 the instrument, which is considered to be the best preserved by Johann Christoph Egedacher, was re-voiced by Bernhardt Edskes .
