Band history

When the singer Milo Aukerman left the Descendents in 1987 in order to concentrate fully on his college studies, the remaining three members decided to continue under a new name. Guitarist Stephen Egerton, bassist Karl Alvarez and drummer Bill Stevenson got Dave Smalley from Dag Nasty as the new singer. The band was named after the last Descendents album All .

They came to Cruz Records , a newly founded offshoot of SST Records . The first ever label release was their debut LP Allroy Sez in 1988 and the EP Allroy for Prez in the same year . But then the separation of Smalley followed and Scott Reynolds became the new singer. It went with him through the next three years, in which four albums were released. In 1991 they supported Tony Lombardo on his album New Girl, Old Story . It was the first release by Descendents co-founder Lombardo after his departure in 1986 and appeared under the artist name TonyAll .

After the sixth all-album Percolator , the separation from Scott Reynolds followed and Chad Price joined the band as the third singer. The album Breaking Things was the first with his voice in 1993, but it was also the last album by Cruz. Their next album Pummel was released in 1995 on the major sub-label Interscope Records .

In the same year there was a brief reunion of the Descendents for a tour and an album, during which all activities were suspended. From 1998 the formation came together again and released the album Mass Nerder . It was released as well as the last two albums All (1999) and Problematic (2000) on Epitaph Records . In 2001 the double CD Live Plus One was released , each with a live CD from All and the Descendents. In the US, the album reached number 45 in the independent charts .

After that there was a reunion of the Descendents, who released two more albums at large intervals. All remained as a second project, but was limited to live performances until the 2010s.

Chad Price released solo albums in 2009 and 2018, he is also the frontman of the alt-country band Drag the River, founded in 1996, and has been involved in the all-star project A Vulture Wake since 2016 . Bassist Karl Alvarez founded his own band with Underminer as a side project and was in demand as a live and studio musician with Gogol Bordello and the Lemonheads, among others . Stevenson and Egerton founded their own studio in Colorado and are active as producers.
