Allegretti e Gentilini was an Italian manufacturer of automobile bodies that was only active for a short time. Within a period of five years, the company mainly produced the superstructures for some well-known Maserati racing cars as a supplier .

Company history

Allegretti e Gentilini, based in Modena , was founded in 1958. It was named after the founders Mario Allegretti and Anselmo Gentilini. Allegretti had previously worked for the Carrozzeria Fantuzzi , Gentilini had been employed by Ferrari and Maserati. Their joint company specialized in the manufacture of bodies for competition vehicles. In 1963 the company was dissolved. Mario Allegretti took over a minority stake in the Modeneser Carrozzeria Sports Cars from Piero Drogo , while Anselmo Gentilini went to the body manufacturer Neri e Bonacini , which in turn was closely associated with Sports Cars.

Allegretti e Gentilini vehicles

Allegretti e Gentilini's first work was the body of the Formula 1 racing car Tec-Mec 415 , which Valerio Colotti had designed. With him, Tec-Mec Automobili entered Formula 1 at short notice in 1959 . In the following years Allegretti e Gentilini was mainly busy with the bodywork for the Maserati “Birdcage” racing car . The company manufactured the bodies designed by Giulio Alfieri for the Tipo 60 , 61, 63 and 64 models and for the Tipo 151 Le Mans prototype . In 1963, the third Tipo 151 received a new body with a crested rear, designed by Piero Drogo . It is unclear whether this structure was also created by Allegretti e Gentilini. Some sources assign him to Carrozzeria Sports Cars. It is possible that the work of Allegretti e Gentilini and Sports Cars merged because Mario Allegretti became a partner in Carrozzeria Sports Cars at that time.
