The Carrozzeria Fantuzzi is an Italian automotive design and coachbuilding company for sports cars , based in Modena .
Company history
The Carrozzeria Fantuzzi was founded by Medardo Fantuzzi (* 1906 in Bologna , † 1986 in Modena ) and his brother Gino. The company had close ties to Maserati in the 1950s and bodyed such legendary racing cars as the Maserati A6GCM , the Maserati 250F , the Maserati 300S and 200S, and the 200SI . At that time Fantuzzi did not have its own premises; rather, the workshop was housed within the Maserati factory.
After Maserati ceased racing in the late 1950s, Fantuzzi began working for Ferrari . The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Spyder from 1961, the 330 TRI and the Formula 1 racing car Ferrari 1512 came from the company's workshops . In addition, Fantuzzi also worked for De Tomaso ( Isis and Tipo 801 ), for ATS, as well as Scuderia Serenissima and its parent company Automobili Serenissima .
At the end of the 1970s, Medardo Fantuzzi's son Fiorenzo took over the management of the company, which was now involved in the restoration of historic racing cars. In 1993 Fantuzzi ceased operations.
