Allsvenskan (chess) 1950/51

The Allsvenskan 1950/51 was the first Swedish team championship in chess ( Allsvenskan ).

mode

The participating teams were divided geographically into the three preliminary rounds nordsvensk (north), mellansvensk (center) and sydsvensk (south). The preliminary rounds were played in the knockout system , the winners of the preliminary rounds played a simple round-robin tournament.

Attendees

Each district was allowed to provide a team (either a district selection or a club team). A total of 18 teams took part (15 district selections and 3 clubs), which were distributed over the preliminary rounds as follows:

1 round

In the first round, the teams from Norrbotten against Norra Västerbotten and from Södra Ångermanland against Medelpad landed clear victories, while Södra Västerbotten only narrowly prevailed against Norra Ångermanland. As the fourth team, the Jämtland selection reached the 2nd round with a bye.

2nd round

In the second round Norrbotten managed the next clear win against Södra Västerbotten, while Jämtland's victory against Södra Ångermanland was narrow.

3rd round

The competition between Jämtland and Norrbotten was hard fought and in the end saw the guests victorious.

1 round

In the first round, the teams from Gotland and Gästrikland had byes, while the two competitions played were hard fought. The Örebro Schacksällskap narrowly won against Värmland selection, while the competition between the selection of Dalarna and the Wasa SK no winner found. In the replay the Wasa SK renounced his home rights and traveled again to Avesta, and this time Dalarna could just prevail.

2nd round

Although Dalarna still had to play the replay from the 1st round against Wasa SK, they already competed against Gästrikland in the 2nd round and won clearly. In the telephone competition between Örebro SS and Gotland, five games had to be abandoned. Before the demolition, Örebro was leading 3-2, but the assessment of the games saw Gotland as the winner.

3rd round

The competition between Dalarna and Gotland was fierce, and in the end the hosts won. A game was canceled, its outcome was no longer important.

1 round

In the first round only one competition was played in which the selection from Småland against Nordskåne clearly prevailed. A game was canceled, this was irrelevant for the outcome of the competition. By byes the SK Kamraterna Göteborg reached both the national teams Västergötlands and Skånes the next round.

2nd round

In the second round, both competitions were hard fought, in the end Västergötland won against SK Kamraterna Göteborg and Skåne against Småland.

3rd round

In the third round, when the score was 5: 4 for Skåne, the game on the top board was canceled. The game was considered a draw by Allan Werle, so Skåne reached the finals.

Finals

The final round took place in Stockholm from May 1st to 3rd .

Tournament course

In the first round the competition between Skåne and Dalarna ended with 5: 5. Then defeated first Dalarna and then Skåne the selection from Norrbotten; as Dalarna won higher, they were Swedish team champions.
