Aloe grandidentata is a species of aloes in the subfamily of the Affodilla family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet grandidentata is derived from the Latin words grandis for 'large' and dentatus for 'toothed' and refers to the large teeth on the edge of the leaf.

description

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe grandidentata grows stemless or with short stems, sprouts and forms dense groups. The lanceolate leaves form dense rosettes . Your brownish green leaf blade is about 15 to 20 inches long and 6 to 7 inches wide. The top two inches dry up quickly. There are many long, cloudy white spots on the leaf surface, which are usually arranged in transverse bands and are usually more conspicuous on the underside of the leaf. The piercing, reddish-brown teeth on the horny, reddish-brown leaf margin are 8 to 10 millimeters apart.

Inflorescences and flowers

The inflorescence consists of four to seven branches and is about 90 centimeters long. The loose, cylindrical and slightly pointed grapes are up to 20 centimeters long and consist of 20 to 30 flowers . Occasionally the flower clusters are shorter and denser. The deltoid pointed, white bracts have a length of 10 to 15 millimeters. The tips of the cloudy reddish, rarely white flowers have a 1.5 millimeter wide white border. The club-shaped flowers are on 10 to 15 millimeter long peduncles . They are 28 to 30 millimeters long and rounded at their base. Above the ovary , the flowers are slightly narrowed and then widened towards their mouth. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of about 8 to 10 millimeters. The stamens and the pen stand out from the flower up to 5 millimeters.
