Alois Pollmann-Schweckhorst (born June 1, 1964 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a German show jumper .

biography

Alois Pollmann-Schweckhorst lived as a child on the farm "Gut Bärbroich " near Bergisch Gladbach. At the age of 12 he found joy in show jumping . Trained and mounted by his father Aloys, “Alo” successfully took part in national and international tournaments together with his brother Elmar. At the age of 21 and 22, both received their golden riding badge .

He had his first successes in Nations Cups, World Cup competitions and at the German Senior Championships with the half- bred mare Frimella (out of the Holstein dam line 890). Alois Pollmann-Schweckhorst attended school at the same time until he graduated from high school and then became a professional jumping rider with Mr. Kappel in Senden, while brother Elmar took over his parents' breeding and training company.

After two years, Alois Pollmann-Schweckhorst moved to Hans Günter Winkler in Warendorf. But although he was able to take his three most successful horses with him, there he experienced his sporting absolute zero point. After two years of training by Winkler, he no longer saw himself in a position to be able to ride properly through an L-class.

As a result, he got a new chance through Paul Schockemöhle . Here he had to work his way up again from below, but after a few months he won his first Nations Cup in Modena, together with Franke Sloothaak and Ludger Beerbaum . From there it went to the Hauser family, where he worked on Banghui del Follee u. a. won the World Cup competitions in Washington and New York and with Giulietta the Neumünster Grand Prix. He then went into business for himself on the German Schneider plant in Tholey. With Power Light he found connection to the international top, among other things with the renewed win of the Grand Prix of Neumünster and the reserve place in the German team at the European championships in Mannheim. But he shouldn't put down roots in Saarland either: He received an offer from the Warsteiner brewery owner Albert Cramer. After he went to Warstein , he became very successful with the father-bred "Aperio", the mare Candy owned by Hans-Helmut Bauer and the gelding Diamonds Daylight bred by Elmar .

Pollmann-Schweckhorst is married and has two children. In 2007 he and his family moved to Mühlen in the Oldenburger Münsterland on Paul Schockemöhle's facility. On the stallion "Chacco Blue" he won a. a. 2010 bronze medal at the German championships in Balve. In October 2010 he left Mühlen again and moved back to Warstein at Albert Cramer's request.

In 2010 he was a member of the German B-team for show jumping. Since his previous successful horses remained in the Schockemöhle stable, Pollmann-Schweckhorst was deleted from these with the creation of the new squad in 2011. In January 2013 he was elected one of the deputies of the active spokesperson for the show jumping riders. In 2015 Pollmann-Schweckhorst took over the national coaching position for the Norwegian show jumpers.
