Alois Reisacher

Alois Reisacher (born August 26, 1817 in Hall in Tirol ; † February 21, 1890 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian portrait, battle and church painter.

Life

Reisacher was the son of a constable at the Salinen-Direction in Hall. He studied from April 18, 1836 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Peter von Cornelius , Friedrich Kaulbach and Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld . He then spent three years in Italy and studied in Venice in 1839 . Reisacher continued his studies from 1843 to 1855 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Leopold Kupelwieser and Joseph von Führich .

From 1855 Reisacher worked as a drawing teacher at the secondary school in Vienna IV, where he previously held an assistant position. Two of Reisacher's works ended up in the Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck, of which he had been a full member since at least 1875. From 1886 he was based in Innsbruck.

In addition to the portraits, Reisacher also created battle pictures and church pictures, among others. a. Altarpieces in the hospital chapel in Zell am Ziller (1854), in the Franciscan church in Schwaz , in the Jesuit church in Hall in Tyrol and in the parish church in Tulfes .
