Appearance and technology

Outwardly, the D10 is similar to the Alpina vehicles with petrol engines based on the E39. It has 18-inch wheels (19-inch on request) with Michelin Pilot tires measuring 235/40 at the front and 265/35 at the rear. The front apron, which was standard on the E39, was replaced, and a spoiler lip was available at the rear of the sedans on request. The interior was rebuilt.

The 2.9-liter M57 engine of E39 was extensively modified to two parallel-connected turbochargers are adjustable guide vanes , a Behr - charge air cooler , other light metal pistons and a common rail -Einspritzsystem of Bosch with a system pressure of up to 160 MPa installed. The output has been increased from 135 kW to 180 kW. Two transmissions, a manual Getrag six-speed transmission or a five-speed converter transmission from ZF were offered .
