Geographical location

The hamlet of Altenried is located about two kilometers northeast of Treffelstein near the Braunmühlbach, which rises about two kilometers further northeast in the Steinlohe and flows two kilometers further south into the Biberbach.

history

In the 17th century the area around Altenried was disputed between Bavaria and Bohemia; it was not until 1764 that the place was finally added to Bavaria.

In a report from the regional directorate, Altenried was listed under the name Braunhöf on May 2, 1806 as belonging to the Biberbach branch with 12 residents.

In 1837 Braunhöf (= Altenried) was listed in the diocesan register with two houses and twelve residents. In 1845 it was noted that there were two farms in Braunhöf - called Altenried before ancient times - that grew grain, flax, potatoes and lots of cabbage (= cabbage), raised cattle and had a lot of their own wood with many old and large ones Book.

As of March 23, 1913 (Easter) Altenried was listed under the name Braunhof as part of the Treffelstein branch with 3 houses and 18 residents.

On December 31, 1990 Altenried had 15 inhabitants and belonged to the parish of Treffelstein.
