Alter Main bei Volkach is a nature reserve in the southwest of the Volkach municipality in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .

location

The nature reserve is located in the districts of Nordheim am Main , as well as in the Volkach districts of Escherndorf , Astheim and the city of Volkach . It is bounded in the east by the Volkach-Gerlachshausen Main Canal and then follows the Altmain to the Volkach-Nordheim military training area .

description

The area has been a designated nature reserve since 1989 with the cadastral number NSG-00350.01. The extension is about 63 hectares .

The purpose of the protected area is to maintain the Main's original state as a flowing water. These include the river terraces, rich in small relics, which are lined with willow trees and are used as hay meadows.
