The sandy grass Heiden on Elgersheimer Hof is a nature reserve within the boundaries of the Volkacher hamlet of driving in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .
location
The area is located in the south of the driver district between the village of Fahr and the wasteland of Elgersheim with the Elgersheimer Hof . It is divided into two parts that line up south of the street Am Sportplatz. The western part is located between fields and meadows on the Main , the eastern part is surrounded by forests.
description
In 1986 the natural monument Flugsande near Fahr was converted into a protected area. On December 1, 1999, the nature reserve was expanded so that two sub-areas of around 1.8 and 1.5 hectares were created. The area is a designated nature reserve with the cadastral number NSG-00285.01. It is part of the Natura 2000 network and registered as part of the protected area DE6027471, Maintal between Schweinfurt and Dettelbach . In addition, the area was recorded as a bird sanctuary and a flora-fauna habitat.
The purpose of the nature reserve is to preserve the European endangered species of silver loin (lat. Jurinea cyanoides ). In addition, the area is a relict site of the sandy grass heaths, which have some rare flowering plants, mosses, mushrooms and various types of lichen .
