Alzgern is a district of the town of Neuötting in the Upper Bavarian district of Altötting ( Bavaria ). The parish village of Alzgern is located east of Neuötting between Inn and Alz at an altitude of 472  m above sea level. NN .

history

The area around Alzgern was already settled by the Celts , Romans and Bavarians . The old parish of Alzgern was incorporated into the Altötting collegiate monastery in 1228 , and the place itself was first mentioned in a document in 1268. Until the end of the 18th century, the place was called Sandmareinkirchen in Alzgern . With the secularization in Bavaria in 1803, Alzgern again became the seat of an independent parish . In 1818 the political municipality of Alzgern was founded by the Bavarian municipal edict. It was incorporated into the city of Neuötting on July 1, 1971.

The 35 districts of the municipality of Alzgern were Alzberg , Alzgern, Bemberg , Bremsthal , Erber , Fading , Gasteig , Gießübel , Holzmann , Jaubing , Kainzberg , Kohlstatt , Kuhbauer , Lehneck , Lohner , Maierhof , Mitterhausen , Mitterlehen , Mittling , Obereschelbach , Oed , Ortfischer , Pfaffenöd , Reitmann , Riedergütl , Roja , Sankt Johann , Schwepfing , Sigl , Sporneck , Stockmann , Stög , Straß , Untereschelbach and Winkl , the municipal area was a good 2031 hectares .

Attractions

The parish church Maria Himmelfahrt is a Romanesque building from the 13th century, which was Gothic changed in the 15th century. During the renovation in 1788, the church was given a rococo interior.

Others

The Roman Catholic Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ moved in 2014 her novitiate after Alzgern in the former hotel Berufsfachschule Bavaria . Appropriate approvals were given by the Neuötting city council and the Passau diocese . The building also serves as a retreat for the religious order members from the entire province of Western and Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Ireland, France, Holland, Switzerland, Poland and Hungary). The inauguration took place on June 28, 2014 with around 1,000 guests by Bishop Stefan Oster SDB.
