The Ambène is a river in France that runs in the Puy-de-Dôme department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises near the hamlet of Sauterre in the southern municipality of Manzat , generally drains in an easterly direction through the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park and flows into the Bedat as a left tributary after around 30 kilometers in the Entraigues municipality . In its lower reaches, the Ambène crosses the urban area of Riom and the densely populated surrounding area.
