Ambach is a parish village and district of Ehekirchen in the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen , which belongs to the administrative district of Upper Bavaria in Bavaria . The Kagerhof also belongs to the district .

geography

Ambach is located north of Ehekirchen on the flat tertiary heights of the Aindlinger terrace stairs . In terms of natural space, it belongs to the Donau-Iller-Lech-Platte , which in turn is part of the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural spatial units in Germany .
The place Ambach is directly to the west, the Kagerhof directly to the east of the north-south running state road 2035 from Neuburg an der Donau to Augsburg .

history

Barrows and coins from Roman times have been found in the area from an epoch that cannot be precisely determined.
Ambach is first mentioned around 1150. It appears alternately as Auwenbach , Aunpach , Ounbach , Awnpach , Auenbach , Aumpach and Am Bach , which can probably be traced back to the Auenbach flowing through Ambach . In the local West Central Bavarian dialect, the place is called Àmbooch , the residents Àmbecka .

The Pappenheimers and later from 1247 the Wittelsbachers owned properties there. At that time there was also a small castle in Ambach, the owners of which named themselves after the seat Aumpecken , Ainpeck or von Aumpach . In 1330 the castle in Ambach was destroyed and Siegfried der Aumpecke settled in the neighboring Seiboldsdorf . In the period that followed, the Niederschönenfeld Monastery bought a number of farms and lands in Ambach. From 1505 to 1808 Ambach then belonged to the Duchy of Palatinate-Neuburg .
The Kagerhof was originally the dairy of the Knights of Ambach, but was later also sold to the Niederschönenfeld Monastery and changed hands many times in the following years.

The Catholic parish of Sankt Martin belongs to the parish community Ehekirchen. The foundations of the church go back to the Frankish times. The basement of the tower and the whole church up to the gallery are from 1400. After the Thirty Years War the rest of the tower was built, in 1700 the church was redesigned in Baroque style and the choir arch and windows were enlarged. The very old Hosianna bell, cast in Augsburg in 1492, hangs in the church tower.

Until July 1, 1972, the independent municipality of Ambach belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and then with the regional reform in Bavaria fell to the enlarged district of Neuburg an der Donau, which was renamed the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen on May 1, 1973 . On January 1, 1978 the place was incorporated into the community Ehekirchen.
