Amblin Entertainment is an American film and TV production company.

history

Amblin Entertainment was founded in 1970 by Steven Spielberg , Kathleen Kennedy and film producer Frank Marshall .

Amblin Entertainment is named after Spielberg's first officially released film Amblin ' from 1968, a short film about a man and woman hitchhiking through the desert. The company's logo shows the silhouette of ET, who, sitting in Elliot's bicycle basket, flies past the moon , a scene from the film ET - The Extra-Terrestrial . The film, which had a production cost of USD 15,000, ran on Universal Pictures and won Spielberg new directing projects. Universal Studios distribute numerous Amblin Entertainment productions and Amblin Entertainment itself operates from a building located on the Universal site.

The most critically acclaimed Amblin production is Schindler's 1993 List . The film was nominated for twelve Academy Awards and won seven, including Best Picture . The film has also become an educational film in high schools . An accompanying study guide, Facing History , was designed with the permission of Amblin and Universal.
