In it, the winners of the contact American League Division Series in 2011 , Texas Rangers (winning the Western Division) and the Detroit Tigers to the winner of the (winning the Central Division) against each other, American League and its representative in the 2011 World Series to determine . Mode and participants

It is a best-of-seven series where the Rangers have the Homefield Advantage because they have won one game more than the Tigers (96 against 95). Therefore, Games 1 and 2 will be played at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington , while Games 3, 4 and 5 will be played at Comerica Park . The last game in 2011 was played again at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, game 7 was canceled due to the Rangers victory.
