American Truck Simulator (ATS) is a computer game from the Prague development studio SCS Software and an offshoot of Euro Truck Simulator 2 . As in this is the American Truck Simulator is a truck simulation, however, the game presents the truck driver -Alltag in the US rather than in Europe.

Gameplay

The main game principle is similar to that of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and consists in using a semitrailer to transport various goods from their loading points to the respective destinations. Various trucks in different designs are available to the player for this purpose. There are also various trailers on which the goods are transported.

The game currently includes the states of California , Nevada , Arizona , New Mexico , Oregon , Washington , Utah, and Idaho . Originally licensed trucks from the manufacturers Peterbilt , Kenworth , Volvo , International and Mack are playable (as of July 2020).

You can also drive online with friends or strangers via an unofficial multiplayer service.

development

American Truck Simulator was first announced on September 6, 2013 and presented at E3 2015. On December 18, 2015, the release date of February 3, 2016 was announced, but the developer released the game one day earlier.

On June 23, 2016, SCS Software announced that it would enlarge the game world by 75%, increasing the scale from 1:35 to 1:20. The update was released on December 12, 2016 with version 1.5.

Version 1.28 was announced on July 20, 2017, the developer justified the jump in the version number from 1.6 to 1.28 with the fact that the updates for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 are often based on the same core functionality upgrade.
