Amo (proper spelling amo ) is the sixth studio album by the British rock - band Bring Me the Horizon . It was released on January 25, 2019 by RCA Records .

Album title

Sykes said in an interview with NME that the album title amo, of course, means I love in Portuguese . At the same time he made it clear that in European Portuguese it is also called master .

background

Sykes said about the album: “ amo is a love album that explores every aspect of that most powerful emotion. [...] It deals with the good, the bad and the ugly, and as a result we've created an album that's more experimental, more varied, weird, and wonderful than anything we've done before. ”(German:“ amo is a love album that explores every aspect of this strongest emotion. […] It deals with the good, the bad and the ugly, and as a result we have created an album that is more experimental, diverse, strange and is more wonderful than anything we've done so far. ”) Later he explained that Amo is a concept album about love, because“ Everything boils down to love in the end ”(German:“ In the end everything revolves around love ”) . Some texts also concern Sykes' divorce.

Wall of Sound

The online magazine Wall of Sound rated the album with 7.5 / 10 points, but at the same time sharply criticized the change of style, away from hard metal to pop music: “ Remember how frontman Oli Sykes trolled fans into thinking the band were going to be included on Justin Bieber's 2016 Purpose Tour through the UK? Well, it's kind of like he / they have taken that joke seriously and gone down the path to see what happens, but realistically, they've been progressing towards something like this since the Sempiternal album cycle finished. ”(German:“ Do you remember how front man Oli Sykes trolled the fans by reading them to believe that the band would be part of Justin Bieber's 2016 Porpuse Tour of Great Britain. Well, it's kind of like he / she does this Taken joke seriously and walked this path to see what happens, but realistically, they have been moving towards something like this since the Sempiternal album cycle ended.
