Suicide Season is the second studio album by the English metalcore band Bring Me the Horizon . It was released on September 29, 2008 and was distributed by Visible Noise in the UK and Europe . The label also ensured that the band could sign a contract with Epitaph Records so that the album could also be sold in the United States , Australia and Japan .

In the US, the album was released on November 18, 2008. Suicide Season reached number 47 on the UK charts, number 28 on the Australian charts and number 107 on the US charts on Billboard .

In the first week of sales 6,621 albums were sold. On November 2, 2009, the band released a remixed version of the album under the name Suicide Season: Cut Up! .

The album was produced in Arboga , a remote Swedish village. Sykes said Arboga was better suited to produce an album than Birmingham , where the band recorded their first album, Count Your Blessings . Suicide Season was recorded in Studio Fredman and produced by Fredrik Nordström . The album contains 10 tracks and a playing time of exactly 41 minutes. Guest musicians who can be heard on individual pieces have been invited for the album. These are JJ Peters ( I Killed the Prom Queen / Deez Nuts ) and Sam Carter ( Architects ).

Visible Noise created a homepage especially for the album. A countdown was started on this, which ended with the release date. Visitors also had the opportunity to view the full cover artwork for the album. The band went on a promotional tour of the UK , Europe and the United States , and was designed by The Red Shore , Deez Nuts , The Secret Handshake , Dead Swans , The Legacy , Misery Signals , Johnny Truant , The Ghost Inside and Confide accompanied as opening acts .

In an interview with Metal Hammer , Sykes said that the style of music on Suicide Season changed completely compared to the previous album Count Your Blessings and that the band had experimented a lot more. In addition, significantly more styles of music would be combined on the album.

Suicide Season: Cut Up! is a remix album by the band, which contains all songs from the album Suicide Season that were produced as remixes. The idea came up when the band asked a friend if he would like to change one of the band's songs. The band was supported in the production by musicians and bands. Among them were Shawn Crahan ( Slipknot ), Ian Watkins ( Lostprophets ), the dance band Utah Saints , Ben Weinman ( The Dillinger Escape Plan ) and Skrillex .

Compared to the original album, Suicide Season: Cut Up! 14 songs. The album was released in the UK on November 2, 2009, and in the US on April 12, 2010. Sykes said that every song is different from the originals and that there are no similarities in the melodies. Suicide Season: Cut Up! has a total playing time of almost 63 minutes.

The song title Chelsea Smile is an allusion to the Glasgow Smile torture method .

In the song No Need for Introductions, I've Read About Girls Like You On the Backs of Toilet Doors , Oliver Sykes presents his view of a personal matter. He is said to have urinated on a female fan in 2007 after a concert in Nottingham . She filed a charge of assault . The case went through several court hearings before being dropped in September 2007 due to lack of evidence.

Originally, Suicide Season was released as an Enhanced CD containing music videos for the songs Pray for Plagues and The Comedown . You could also use the CD to download several wallpapers of the band.

The cover shows a woman in a black dress against a white background. She holds bowels in her hands . The lettering BRING ME THE HORIZON and SUICIDE SEASON are barely visible in a transparent color.

On the remix album, the intestines and the lettering are shown in a poison green color. However, the woman's dress remains black.
