Michael Shawn Crahan (born September 24, 1969 in Des Moines , Iowa ) is an American metal musician .

Life

Before founding Slipknot , he was a welder. He is married and has three children with his wife Chantel. On May 19, 2019, Crahan announced through Slipknot's official Facebook page that their fourth child, his youngest daughter, Gabrielle, had passed away the day before.

Before joining Slipknot, he owned several clubs, but due to lack of time, he later sold them again.

Crahan is a fan of the painters Paul Cézanne and Pablo Picasso .

Crahan is the last remaining founding member and a percussionist of the metal band Slipknot . His number in the band is 6. They say he and Sid Wilson , the band's DJ , have a strained relationship. As a specialty of his style, Crahan has a baseball bat with him for some songs (such as Duality and Sulfur) with which he hits his percussion . He's already sustained several injuries, including a split skull. Therefore he is also called “Mr. Selfdestruct "(in German" Herr Selbstzerstörer ") called.

He is also a member of the band To My Surprise, which released their debut album of the same name in October 2003. He is also the drummer for the band Dirty Little Rabbits.

His appearance with a clown mask at a band rehearsal resulted in Slipknot's tradition of performing in a mask. His mask at the band's shows represents a clown , hence his nickname "clown".

Acting career

In 2012 he was in front of the camera for the horror musical film The Devil's Carnival, where he embodied "The Tamer".
