Wait and Bleed is a song by American Metal - band Slipknot . It was released on February 28, 2000 as the first single from the debut album of the same name .

Music video

There are two music videos for Wait and Bleed. The first music video was shot under the direction of Thomas Mignore and is about a minute longer than the album version. At the beginning you see a man cutting down a tree and bringing it to his workshop. Inside were flies and maggots, with which he apparently wants to carry out experiments and which he therefore puts in preserving jars. The members of Slipknot are shown as rag dolls. The bassist Paul Gray is held by him and a grub is planted, which obviously breathes new life into him. The singer Corey Taylor is also locked in a cage, but can later free himself. The other members break into the building unnoticed to apparently start a rescue operation. So the drummer Joey Jordison z. B. through the manhole cover. The man is suddenly hit in the face and drops a glass full of flies. The glass breaks, causing the insects to fly around the room in large numbers. Distracted by this, the guitarist Mick Thomson comes up to him and pulls his leg, causing him to lose his balance and fall. Slipknot gather around the horrified man. Before that, however , the drummer Chris Fehn laid a trail of gasoline that he ultimately fell on. At the end you see the other drummer Shawn Crahan lighting the gasoline trail with a Bunsen burner. As a result, the man is burned alive, but this remains unclear since the video ends at this point.

The second video shows the band playing the song at a concert.

The song was nominated in 2001 at the 43rd Grammy Awards in the category Best Metal Performance . It was the first time the band received such a nomination.
