Psychosocial is a song by American Metal - band Slipknot . It was released on July 7, 2008 as the second single from their fourth studio album All Hope Is Gone .

Music video

The accompanying music video was shot under the direction of PR Brown, who also directed the other music videos for the singles of All Hope Is Gone . It was filmed at Sound Farm Studios in Jamaica , Iowa on June 30, 2008. The video shows the band at the location. They perform the song in the dark by a blazing fire.

Reception and miscellaneous

The song was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009. The band was nominated for a Grammy for the seventh time with this song. In the end, however, the award went to Metallica for My Apocalypse . Even at the MTV Video Music Awards 2008, the song could not assert itself in the Best Rock Video category . Further nominations were also at the Fuse Awards 2008 in the category Best Video and at the Kerrang! Awards 2009 in the Best Single category . The song won the Best Riff category at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards . Also at the Total Guitar Reader Awards in the categories Best Video and Solo of the Year , Slipknot could claim an award for themselves with Psychosocial .

The song can be played in the video game Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and is also available for download as a supplement to the games Rock Band and Rock Band 2 . The song is standard at Slipknot concerts and has been performed live by the band an estimated 200 times so far.
