Mick Thomson , full name Mickael Gordon Thomson (born November 3, 1973 in Des Moines , Iowa ) is the lead guitarist of the nu-metal band Slipknot , in which he has the pseudonym number "7".

Life

Mick Thomson grew up in Des Moines along with other Slipknot band members . Before he became a member of Slipknot, he was a guitar teacher and member of the band Body Pit, in which the later Slipknot members, Donnie Steele and Paul Gray also played.

Thomson joined Slipknot in 1995 , where he replaced the then guitarist Craig Jones, who then took over the sampling of the band.

Thomson takes his pseudonym as number # 7 more seriously than any other Slipknot band member. He has the lettering seven tattooed on his left forearm . In addition, the lettering seven was incorporated into the guitar neck of the last three guitar models he used . Another distinguishing feature is that he always rolled up the sleeves of his jacket at concerts.

Thomson has a particular interest in serial killers . He says they fascinated him, but that he is not by nature a violent person. According to his bandmate Corey Taylor , Thomson is an "avid poet".

Thomson wears a metallic looking leather mask .

On March 12, 2015, it was reported that Thomson and his younger brother were hospitalized as a result of an escalating dispute. According to this, there should have been a stabbing in which Mick Thomson was stabbed in the neck; however, the injuries were not life threatening.
