Terry Date (born January 31, 1956 in Lansing , Michigan ) is an American music producer and sound engineer .
Life and work
After attending college in Idaho , Terry Date moved to Seattle , Washington in 1979 . He worked with local bands even before the local grunge scene became internationally known.
He soon specialized in the alternative rock and metal genre. After producing the Metal Church album Blessing in Disguise in 1989 , he also got the chance to work with other well-known bands such as Soundgarden and Mother Love Bone . Prong , White Zombie and Overkill booked his services as did Pantera , whose most famous albums he was responsible for.
He also had a decisive influence on the sound of the Deftones , for whom he produced four records. He is also known in the Nu-Metal area thanks to his work with Limp Bizkit and Korn . In the meantime, Date has expanded its spectrum into other sub-genres such as progressive metal ( Dream Theater ) or post-grunge ( Staind ), but also completely different musical areas ( Snoop Dogg ). Terry Date also worked on the Smashing Pumpkins album Zeitgeist . In 2015 he produced the last Slayer album Repentless .
