Results may vary ( English for about " results may vary ") is the fourth studio album of American nu-metal - band Limp Bizkit . It was released on September 22, 2003 on the Interscope Records and Flip Records labels .

background

After guitarist Wes Borland left , Results May Vary is the first album that Limp Bizkit recorded without a permanent guitarist. At first, Fred Durst and bassist Sam Rivers recorded the guitar parts alone. In addition, the sound engineer Michael Baskette played guitar on some of the songs. Mike Smith, guitarist for the band Snot , was later hired for the recordings. Most of the recordings themselves took place in Los Angeles between August 2002 and January 2003 .

Cover design

The album cover is in green tones and shows the face of Fred Durst, who opens his mouth wide. The Limp Bizkit logo and the title results may vary in white are at the top right of the picture .

Guest Posts

In addition to Limp Bizkit, other artists are represented on two songs on the album. So who has rapper Snoop Dogg a guest appearance on the song Red Light / Green Light , while Brian Welch , lead guitarist for the nu-metal band Korn to Build a Bridge participated.

Results May Vary entered the German album charts at number 1 on October 6, 2003 and was at number 6 and 9 in the following weeks. In total, the album stayed in the top 100 for 32 weeks. The record also topped the charts in Austria, while he was second in Australia and New Zealand, third in the United States, sixth in Switzerland and seventh in the United Kingdom.

A week before the album was released, the first single was Eat You Alive . Of Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson , the song was sharply criticized and called Fred Durst as a horrible songwriter. Nevertheless, the track reached number 13 in the German charts and stayed in the top 100 for nine weeks.

In November 2003, Behind Blue Eyes, the album's second single was released. The song, which originally comes from The Who , achieved second place in Germany, third place in Austria and fifth in Switzerland . Oscar winner Halle Berry plays in the music video for the song . Behind Blue Eyes received a gold record for more than 20,000 sales in Switzerland and a gold record for over 500,000 copies in the United States .

Sales figures and awards

Results May Vary received a gold record in Germany in the year of publication for more than 100,000 copies sold. It was also awarded gold in Austria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, while in the United States it was awarded a platinum record for over a million sales in 2008.

Overall, the album received average to negative reviews from critics :

Laut.de rated Results May Vary with three out of a possible five points. Critic Eberhard Dobler writes that the record is solid, but that there are no real highlights on the album.

Plattentests.de awarded four out of ten points. Editor-in-chief Armin Linder says that although the album is better than its predecessor, it still doesn't sound really good.

Matthias Reichel writes on cdstarts.de that the album is not the expected catastrophe, but also offers nothing new. He awarded six out of ten points.

Stephen Thomas Erlewine only gave 1.5 out of five stars on allmusic.com and says that music lacks passion and energy.

whiskey-soda.de awarded the school grade 2 and describes the album as suitable for charts and varied.
