Gold Cobra ( English for: Golden Cobra ) is the fifth studio album of American nu-metal - band Limp Bizkit . It was released on June 24, 2011 on the Interscope Records and Flip Records labels . It is the first sound carrier with new songs since 2005 and the first album with the original line-up since Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water from 2000.

background

The band took a break after the EP The Unquestionable Truth (2005), while Fred Durst worked as a film director. Even Wes Borland was busy with other musical projects. Since around 2008 there were reports that the band would get back together and record a new album. This was confirmed in February 2009. In addition, Wes Borland's re-entry was confirmed. The band also played a tour together. A press release said the group was "more disgusted and bored" with the state of the current music scene than each other:

"We decided we were more disgusted and bored with the state of heavy popular music than we were with each other. Regardless of where our separate paths have taken us, we recognize there is a powerful and unique energy with this particular group of people we have not found anywhere else. This is why Limp Bizkit is back. "

- Limp Bizkit

It took about a year and a half to produce the album. The title of the album comes from Borland. It was chosen because the band felt it fit the style of music, but it has no particular meaning.

Cover design

The album cover is a painted picture of a cobra and three women wearing bikinis and sticking their tongues out. Trees, a sailing ship and a person watching the women can be seen in the background. At the top right of the picture there is the word Limp Bizkit in silver.

Guest Posts

Alexander Austel from laut.de rated the album with three out of a possible five points. He thinks it consists of a strong first half and a weak second half. The songs Gold Cobra , Shark Attack , Get a Life and Shotgun would convince with "aggressive raps and a booming bass", while Loser and Autotunage "give you goose bumps - with disgust!"

On the website metal.de , the reviewer praised the production of the "strong" album. As a qualification, it said: “ Gold Cobra will know how to inspire the fans of Limp Bizkit, no question about it. Gold Cobra will not help anyone who has not been able to do anything with the music of the Americans . ”Eight out of ten points were awarded.
