Significant Other ( English for: " reference person ") is the second studio album by the US Nu-Metal band Limp Bizkit . It was released on June 22, 1999 on the Interscope Records and Flip Records labels . As singles titles were Nookie , Break Stuff , re-arranged and N 2 Gether Now decoupled.

Music style and controversy

The album is based on the style of Three Dollar Bill, Yall $ , which is counted as Nu Metal . Compared to its predecessor, however , Significant Other is characterized by more melodic sections and a less aggressive melody . The tracks are mainly about Fred Durst and his long-time girlfriend and therefore the album - due to the course of the relationship - is characterized by a depressive mood like its predecessor. A hidden track about five minutes long is attached to the outro .

Some songs were discussed controversially, because both the public and the press held them responsible for the riots at the Woodstock III Festival in July 1999. So raped several men a woman during a performance by Limp Bizkit front of the stage. In the Simpsons episode Gets Marge Mad , the title Show Me What You Got of the album is played in relation to that festival.

Cover design

The album cover shows a cartoon character holding a microphone and wearing a red baseball cap. High-rise buildings can be seen in the background and the orange-red letters Limp Bizkit and significant other can be found in the lower right corner of the picture .

Guest Posts

In addition to Limp Bizkit, other artists can be heard on four tracks on the album. Singers Jonathan Davis (from Korn ) and Scott Weiland (from Stone Temple Pilots ) are featured on the song Nobody Like You , while rapper Method Man has a guest appearance on N 2 Gether Now . No Sex is a collaboration with Aaron Lewis , the singer of the band Staind . You can also hear Matt Pinfield and Les Claypool on Hidden Tracks after the outro .

It was "a very worthy successor to the 97 debut, which [silenced] all doubters and could turn all opponents into believers."
