See You on the Other Side (English for. " See you on the other side ") is the seventh studio album by American nu-metal band Korn . It was released on December 6, 2005 under the Virgin Records label. It is the first album without guitarist Brian Welch and the last with drummer David Silveria .

Emergence

At the beginning of 2005, the band separated from Immortal Records , as they were no longer satisfied with the marketing in recent years. Korn initially wanted to record the album on their own label Elementree , but ultimately decided to sign a contract with Virgin Records . Shortly thereafter, guitarist Brian Welch got out. According to his own statement, he had found his faith in God and no longer considered it acceptable to be a member of Korn. He also wanted to spend more time with his family, which currently consists only of his daughter. He recorded his impressions in his book Save Me From My Self , published in 2008 . Singer Jonathan Davis then said that the band wasn't ready for a new guitarist and that the album was only recorded with four people. The album was produced alongside Davis by Atticus Ross and the producer trio The Matrix. They also contributed to the songwriting. Twisted Transistor was released as a pre-release single on September 27, 2005 . After several postponements, the album was released worldwide on December 6, 2005. After the album tour, drummer David Silveria got out. He felt exhausted and needed a break. He was replaced by Ray Luzier in 2008 .

Music genre

Korn experimented more on the album than on the previous ones. Particular emphasis was placed on playing the drums, which has come to the fore. In addition, the album contains many influences from industrial rock , which is why there are more electronic parts than on the previous albums. In addition, a keyboard was used for the first time and was played by producer Atticus Ross. For the first time, topics such as politics and patriotism were also addressed.

Jonathan Davis had the following to say about the album:

It's funky, it's heavy, it's dark and sometimes, industrial-tinged. Working with so many different people and everything, it's made it out to be a really well-rounded album of a lot of different things. It's definitely grain, it's definitely groove-oriented. But it's our most experimental album to date. We're very excited. We're all sitting around, when we listen to it, looking at each other going, 'I can't believe that's us.' I think people are really going to dig it.

“The album is funky, heavy, dark and sometimes industrial in color. Working with so many people made it a really well-rounded album. It's definitely grain and groove oriented. But we experimented the most here, compared to other albums of ours. We are very excited. We all sit together when we listen to our music, look at each other. "I can't believe this is us." I guess a lot of people will appreciate it. "
