Untouchables (English for: " Untouchables ") is the fifth studio album by the US Nu-Metal band Korn . It was released on June 10, 2002 by Immortal and Epic . In contrast to its predecessors, the album only reached number two in the USA, but it was the only one to top the charts in Germany. With the song Here to Stay , the band won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2003. The album sold over four million times worldwide.

background

Untouchables appeared after a three-year break, in which the band members took care of side projects or film soundtracks. At that time, and during the recording of the album in 2001, tensions arose in the band, which continued during the subsequent tour. There were a few gigs with Static-X to try out the new songs live. The band also performed at the Ozzfest . Was produced Untouchables by Michael Beinhorn album of was mixed Andy Wallace . There was increased use of synthesizers and vocal effects, the latter for example in Hollow Life . The guitar sound was described as "melting into one another" and compared with a helmet , for example . With Alone I Break one of the calmest Korn songs is included. The album was also released as a limited bonus edition with additional digital video content.

reception

In Visions the record was described as "the most brutal compromise in the music world". The band satisfy fans and critics, and sound different and distinctive at the same time. “The dark character of the record” was also praised. Nevertheless, the band is now like "a piece of untoasted white bread with Nutella as thick as a finger : Sometimes there is nothing better, but that can't be everything in the long run." According to Bradley Torreano from Allmusic.com , the melodies on the album are "more important" than before, at the same time, grain is more “experimental”. Above all, the texts that fell into the Korn-typical “am I going crazy?” Trap were criticized. The rating was three out of five stars.
