Amphoe Bang Kaeo ( Thai : อำเภอ บางแก้ว ) is a county ( amphoe - administrative district) in Phatthalung Province . Phatthalung Province is located in the southern region of Thailand , about 840 kilometers south of Bangkok on the Malay Peninsula .

Neighboring districts and territories (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Pak Phayun , Pa Bon , Tamot , and Khao Chaisoni in the province of Phatthalung and Amphoe Krasae Sin of Songkhla province .
To the east of the county is the bank of Thale Luang, the northern part of Lake Songkhla .
history
Bang Kaeo was initially set up as a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) on April 1, 1990 , by separating three tambon from Khao Chaison district . It was promoted to Amphoe on September 7, 1995.

Local administration
There are two small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:
- Tha Maduea ( เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า มะเดื่อ ) consists of parts of the tambon Tha Maduea and Khok Sak.
- Bang Kaeo ( เทศบาล ตำบล บางแก้ว ) consists of further parts of the Tambon Tha Maduea.
There are also two “tambon administrative organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) for the tambon or the parts of tambon in the county that do not belong to any town.
