Amphoe Khuan Kalong ( Thai : อำเภอ ควนกาหลง ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in Satun Province . Satun Province is located in the west of the southern region of Thailand on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula .

Neighboring counties and areas are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Palian of Trang Province , Amphoe Pa Bon of Phatthalung Province , Amphoe Rattaphum , Hat Yai , Khlong Hoi Khong and Sadao of Songkhla Province and Amphoe Khuan Don , Amphoe Tha Phae , Amphoe La-ngu and Manang District in Satun Province.

history

Khuan Kalong was initially set up as a small district ( King Amphoe ) on June 1, 1969 by separating the three tambon Thung Nui, Pae-ra and Tha Phae from the Mueang Satun district . On September 8, 1976, Khuan Kalong received full Amphoe status. On June 1, 1976, the two southwestern tambon of the district were separated from Amphoe Tha Phae . In 1996 the north-western part was separated to form Amphoe Manang .
