Amphoe Laem Sing ( Thai : อำเภอ แหลม สิงห์ ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in Chanthaburi Province . The Chanthaburi Province is located in the east of the central region of Thailand .

geography

Neighboring Amphoe (clockwise from the northwest): the Amphoe Tha Mai , Mueang Chanthaburi and Khlung of Chanthaburi Province. In the southwest lies the Gulf of Thailand .

In the southeast of the district lies the mouth of the Maenam Welu ( Welu River ). It consists of about 27 km² of flat Wadden Sea and mangrove forests.

history

Laem Sing County was established in 1898 under the name Phlio. In 1909, the government made funds available for the construction of a larger administrative building, and the district was renamed Laem Sing at the same time. The administration building was renovated in 1966 and 1996.

Attractions

  • Namtok Phlio National Park ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก พลิ้ว ) - named after the Phlio waterfall ( น้ำตก พลิ้ว , Namtok Phlio), which means “smooth movement”.

The Laem Sing district is divided into seven tambon ("subdistricts" or "municipalities"), which are further subdivided into 65 muban ("villages").

Local administration

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Pak Nam Laem Sing (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ปากน้ำ แหลม สิงห์ ) consisting of the complete tambon Pak Nam Laem Sing.
  • Phlio (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พลิ้ว ) consisting of the complete Tambon Phlio, Khlong Nam Khem.

There are also four " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

  • Ko Proet (Thai: องค์การ บริหารส่วน ตำบล เกาะ เป ริ ด ) consisting of the complete tambon Ko Proet.
  • Nong Chim (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง ชิ่ ม ) consisting of the complete Tambon Nong Chim.
  • Bang Sa Kao (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บาง สระ เก้า ) consisting of the complete tambon Bang Sa Kao.
  • Bang Kachai (Thai: องค์การ บริหารส่วน ตำบล บาง กะ ไชย ) consisting of the complete tambon Bang Kachai.
