Amphoe Ra-ngae ( Thai : อำเภอ ระแงะ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of the Narathiwat Province . The province of Narathiwat is located in the southeast of the southern region of Thailand on the border with Malaysia.
geography
All neighboring counties are in the province of Narathiwat, these are (from the north clockwise): the Amphoe Yi-ngo , Mueang Narathiwat , Cho-airong , Su-ngai Padi , Sukhirin , Chanae , Si Sakhon and Rueso .
Parts of the Namtok Sipo National Park ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก ซี โป Utthayan Haengchat Namtok Sipo ) are located in Ra-ngae.
history
The city ( Mueang ) Ra-ngae was separated from the then Kingdom of Pattani by the Vice-King ( Uparat ) Maha Sura Singhanat during the reign of King Puttha Yodfa Chulalok (Rama I) . The post of governor was associated with the title of Phraya Ra-ngae. The administration was initially in the nearby state of Kelantan (now Malaysia ), it was later moved to Tambon Tanyong Mat. When King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) established Monthon Pattani in 1906, Mueang Ra-ngae became one of the satellite cities of Monthon .

Local administration
There are two small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:
- Tanyong Mat ( เทศบาล ตำบล ตันหยง มั ส ) consists of parts of the Tambon Tanyong Mat,
- Marue Botok ( เทศบาล ตำบล มะ รือ โบ ตก ) consists of parts of the tambon Marue Botok.
There are also seven “tambon administrative organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) for the tambon or the parts of tambon in the county that do not belong to any town.
