Amphoe Si Sakhon ( Thai อำเภอ ศรีสาคร ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of the Narathiwat Province . The province of Narathiwat is located in the southeast of the southern region of Thailand on the border with Malaysia.

Neighboring counties and areas are (clockwise from north): Amphoe Rueso , Ra-ngae and Chanae of Narathiwat Province and Amphoe Than To and Bannang Sata of Yala Province .
history
Originally, the area of today's Si Sakhon County was a tambon in Rueso County with the name Sako. Since a division of the Thai military was stationed in Sako from 1963 to 1974, the infrastructure of the tambon developed quickly. On September 23, 1974, the Ministry of the Interior set up a small district ( King Amphoe ) called Si Sakhon, which consisted of the two tambon Sako and Tamayung. On March 25, 1979, Si Sakhon was given full amphoe status.

Local administration
Si Sakhon ( เทศบาล ตำบล ศรีสาคร ) is a small town ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district, it consists of parts of the tambon Si Sakhon and Sa Ko.
There are also six “tambon administration organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) for the tambon or the parts of tambon in the county that do not belong to any town.
