Christoph "Chris" Harand (born May 27, 1981 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with VEU Feldkirch in the Inter-National League .

Career

Christoph Harand started his career at Wiener EV and was able to book several engagements abroad at a young age. After a year in the Swedish Division 1 , he returned to Austria to the EHC Lustenau in 2000 . This was followed by a three-year engagement with the Vienna Capitals and two years with the Black Wings Linz . In the 2006/07 season he first played in the Czech extra league at HC Znojemští Orli , but could not prevail there and moved to the second highest division before he was signed by the EC KAC in the same season , with which he became Austrian champion in 2009 , where he contributed the decisive goal of the series of finals. The year before, he had been named to the league's all-star team. After two more seasons in Klagenfurt, Harand played for the Graz 99ers from the 2009/10 season .

In June 2011 he was signed by the Vienna Capitals, but only received a trial contract. During the pre-season season, Harand broke his leg so that he was not given a contract for the following season. After a year off injury, he joined the Dornbirn EC in 2012 , which he left in March 2013 to join the third division EC Kitzbühel for the rest of the season . After another year at EHC Lustenau in the Inter-National League , he has been playing for its league rivals, VEU Feldkirch, since 2014 . Now he trains the ice hockey player Marc Höflich. He plays with the Brave Hawks in Vienna.

After his active career, Harand was the junior coach of the Danube Islanders (2014-2018).

International

In the junior division, Harand played for Austria at the U18-C European Championships in 1997 and 1998 and the U18-B World Championship in 1999 as well as at the U20-C World Championship in 2000 and the U20 World Championship in Division I in 2001 .

In the men's area, he played with the Austrian national team at the 2004 , 2005 and 2009 World Championships in the top division. After relegation in 2009 he played for the team from the Alpine country at the 2010 World Cup in Division I, where he was immediately promoted back to the top division. He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .

family

Christoph Harand is the brother of Patrick Harand , who is also an ice hockey player. His father Kurt is also a former player of the Austrian national team, current assistant coach and co-commentator of the live games of the Austrian ice hockey league on Sky .
