On July 14, 1992, the Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg gave his consent to the formation of the Oranienburg-Land office. July 31, 1992 was set as the date of establishment of the office. The office was formed according to the so-called office model 1 (with its own administration). It was based in the city of Oranienburg and initially consisted of nine communities in what was then the Oranienburg district :

  2. Friedrichsthal
  3. Hohenbruch
  4. Lehnitz
  5. malt
  6. Nassenheide
  7. Neuendorf
  8. Schmachtenhagen

On December 31, 2001, the community of Neuendorf left office and incorporated into the non-office community of Löwenberger Land. Also on December 31, 2001, Hohenbruch merged with the communities of Beetz, Flatow, Groß-Ziethen, Sommerfeld , Staffelde and the city of Kremmen to form the new city of Kremmen.

On October 26, 2003, the Nassenheide community was incorporated into the Löwenberger Land community. The communities Lehnitz, Schmachtenhagen, Malz, Germendorf, Wensickendorf, Friedrichsthal and Zehlendorf were incorporated into the city of Oranienburg on the same date. The municipality of Freienhagen, however, was incorporated into the city of Liebenwalde.
