Wallmerod Office
The Office Wallmerod (1809–1831: Amt Meudt ) was an office of the Duchy of Nassau .
history
Nassau
The office was formed in 1809 under the name Amt Meudt by separating the four north-eastern courts from the Electorate of Trier Montabaur . The seat was Montabaur , which was outside the district. In 1816 the community of Weltersburg was added, which after 1803 was initially assigned to the Rennerod office .
In 1820 the office consisted of 49 parish districts, including 2 spots, 57 villages and 39 farms and mills. 2,481 families or 11,141 residents lived in the office. Of these, 30 were Protestant, 11,060 Catholic and 51 Jews.
Residents of the office protested for years against the foreign official seat in Montabaur and suggested Wallmerod as the official seat. The Nassau government refused because of the small size of the place. In addition, there was no suitable building for the official administration. Finally, in 1820 , the community of Wallmerod offered to build an office building at its own expense. Again the state government refused and only approved the establishment of an official apothele in Wallmerod. This was operated by the Hadamar pharmacist Hergt as a branch. When the seat of the office was finally moved to Wallmerod in 1831, it was named Amt Wallmerod.
After the March Revolution in 1848, the administration was reorganized. By law of April 4, 1849, administration and jurisdiction were separated at a lower level in Nassau. The reform came into effect on July 1, 1849. 10 district offices were established for administration , the offices continued as judicial offices (i.e. courts of first instance). The administrative tasks of the Wallmerod office were carried out by the Hadamar district office , the jurisdiction of the Wallmerod judicial office. However, the reform was reversed on October 1, 1854, the districts abolished and the previous offices restored.
Prussia
After the German War , Nassau was annexed by Prussia . On February 22nd, 1867, the Unterwesterwaldkreis was formed from the Wallmerod office and neighboring offices. Only as part of this reorganization will administration and jurisdiction be separated. The judicial officials in the offices were initially responsible for the jurisdiction in the first instance, which was previously carried out by the office, and the Wallmerod district court was formed on September 1, 1867 .
But even after the founding of the district, the previous office structure will be retained. The Royal Ordinance of February 22, 1867 regulated: "The administrative districts as narrower administrative districts exist in their previous limits" The former offices form the three districts of the district. According to § 13 of the district constitution, the districts sent the former offices six representatives to the new district council . The bailiff supervised the local police and was an employee of the district administrator .
With the administrative reform of 1885/1886 the offices were finally dissolved.
