The district court of Zellerfeld was then founded with the ordinance of August 7, 1852 regarding the formation of the district courts and lower administrative authorities as a royal Hanover district court. It comprised the urban area of Zellerfeld and parts of the Zellerfeld office , mainly consisting of Bockswiese, Hahnenklee , Schulenberg , Lautenthal , Wildemann , Grund and Altenau with a peat house . The district court was subordinate to the higher court in Osterode .

In 1859 the district courts of Clausthal and St. Andreasberg were repealed and their judicial districts were assigned to that of the district court of Zellerfeld. With the annexation of Hanover by Prussia , it became a Prussian district court in the province of Hanover . With the merger of Clausthal and Zellerfeld in 1924, the name of the district court was changed from the district court of Zellerfeld to the district court of Clausthal-Zellerfeld.
