Detmold District Court

The Detmold District Court (AG Detmold) is a court of ordinary jurisdiction based in Detmold .

Judicial district

The Detmold District Court is locally responsible for the cities of Detmold, Horn-Bad Meinberg , Lage and Oerlinghausen as well as for the communities of Augustdorf and Schlangen, all in the western part of the Lippe district . Around 163,000 people live in the 446 km² judicial district .

Official building

The seat of the local court is the seat of the former Lippe government, which was completed under the reign of Leopold IV in 1911, in Paulinenstrasse and Kaiser-Wilhelm- Platz in Detmold. The building was later used to house the government of the Detmold administrative district, which is why it was also called the government building. The building is a palatial stone building in the baroque reform style ( neo-baroque ) with a mansard roof and segmented gables on the three risalits of the main facade. The side front facing Hermannstrasse has flat corner projections and a central projection with a column portico. The middle gable is decorated with the historical coat of arms of the Lippe region . In the adjacent part of the building complex, in the building part of the former Lippe state parliament , the Detmold district court is now located .

Superior courts

The regional court overriding the Detmold District Court is the Detmold Regional Court , which in turn is subordinate to the Hamm Higher Regional Court .
