The district court of Günzburg as one of 73 district courts in Bavaria is a court of ordinary jurisdiction with its seat in the district town of Günzburg .

history

The current structure of the Bavarian courts goes back to the Imperial Court Constitutional Act of January 27, 1877. After that, the local courts replaced the previously existing city and regional courts. Up until then, today's regional courts were district courts. In 1879 the district court of Günzburg became a district court, as did the district courts of Burgau and Krumbach (Swabia) . Gustav Müller was head of the first district court in Günzburg after this reform until 1891.

With effect from June 15, 1943, the Burgau District Court was converted into a branch of the Günzburg District Court by resolution of the then President of the Higher Regional Court in Munich.

With effect from July 1, 1973, the district court of Krumbach (Swabia) was replaced by the Bayer. Court Organization Act of April 25, 1973 in the course of implementing the Bayer. Law on the new delimitation of the administrative districts of December 27, 1971, the so-called territorial reform, dissolved. Since then, the district court district of Günzburg has encompassed the entire current district of Günzburg, consisting of the old districts of Krumbach and Günzburg.
