history

In its history, the court was at different locations in Landstuhl. The city initially rented the premises, but the city canceled the last lease in 1866. Plans to accommodate the district court in an extension of the cantonal or later district court prison. Since the building was in a very poor structural condition, the lease with the city was extended several times for a limited period of three years. In 1880, after the appointment of another judge, the decision was made to build a new courthouse with a prison extension.

Construction work on the building north of Kaiserstrasse took about two years. The new building was erected in a simple Renaissance style in rubble stone masonry according to plans by the Kaiserslautern building officer Ludwig von Stempel . In 1891 the court moved into the new building. In 1904 the building was connected to the electrical supply . The labor court was later housed in the premises of the local court .

Little has been changed on the building since it was built. On the south side there is still a gold-rimmed Royal Bavarian Majesty's coat of arms with a royal crown and the inscription KB District Court . Around the current parking lot in the courtyard of the building, the four meter high walls of the former prison still stand today.

The interior of the building, which is now a listed building, was changed and rebuilt several times in contrast to the exterior. As part of a fundamental renovation in 1992 and 1993, all electrical systems and heating were renewed, windows and floors were renewed, the ceilings were suspended and fire doors were installed. In the annex, which has not been used as a prison since 1963, additional service rooms and a social room were built.

In February 2002 the electronic land register was introduced.
